One of the hidden secrets of Trancoso's Historic Quadrado is a small beco (path) running from its north-west corner forming a micro-neighborhood of quiet homes, guesthouses and shops just steps from the town square.
While homes facing the Quadrado offer a window into life unfolding there every day, homes on the beco have a more interior perspective, with lush vegetation creating a comforting sense of privacy and a tropical vibe. This has been one of the preferred areas to live for some of the earliest transplants to Trancoso - hippies and artists arriving in the 1970's and 1980's.
A simple wooden gate on the beco hides a 1.000 sq. meter tropical compound of very relaxed chic. Rustic, freestanding structures made with local materials give the feeling of simpler times and spread around the gardens connected via paths and wooden decks. A pool, gazebo and outdoor dining area form the heart of the property.
Bedroom suites being in independent casas offers guests a sense of privacy, even when sharing the house in a family or group.
Design touches are all local, acquisitions from the owner's personal collections complemented by pieces from the UXUA D.A.S. atelier.
